September update
So school is back in for the fall. And we’re starting back on the tutoring. Get in touch if you’re interested, the schedule is starting to fill up.
Some educational events we’re helping with this month:
- Wed Sept 16, 6:30pm – Understanding the Epidemic of Continuing Violence against Indigenous Women
- Sun Sept 20, 1:00pm – Introduction to Anarchism (to be confirmed – email a_ottawa@mutualaid.org for more)
And more in October:
- Oct 14-18 – Organizing For Justice conference
- Oct 25-31 – Indigenous Sovereignty Week (looks like we’ll be doing visits to high schools, as well as events on the evenings and weekends – stay tuned for more)
Also, still looking to get a (monthly? twice-monthly?) discussion group going around the Upping the Anti journal – email learn@equitableeducation.ca if you’re interested
And a report on this summer – the summer camp didn’t happen due to low registration and then some cancellations. Lessons learned for next time: have things set further in advance, get the word out better, and take deposits
… did keep up on some tutoring for a couple of students, and keep your eyes open for the publication of the green jobs interview with Ben Powless online sometime soon (the booklet version of the interview is still available, by request or at Exile Infoshop)
